Laparoscopic & Hysteroscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgeries
It is an operative procedure which involves making one, two or three very small incisions in the abdomen and inserting a laparoscope – which is a telescope with a light and camera, to visualize the abdominal organs. Though a laparoscopy is performed under general anaesthesia, it is usually a day care surgery and results in speedy recovery with minimal post operative discomfort.Laparoscopy may be needed as a diagnostic to find the reason the failure to conceive. Usually it is done after other diagnostic methods have indicated that laparoscopy is necessary. Alternatively, laparoscopy may be needed to treat a woman who has fibroids, endometriosis, adhesions or polycystic ovaries.
Hysteroscopy means looking inside the uterine cavity using a telescope. It is used when a woman is suspected to have polyps, submucous fibroids, septa etc. We can exclude any intra uterine abnormality by performing a hysteroscopy. Additionally we can also operate to remove fibroids and polyps which may interfere with implantation of the embryo.
