After completing your Intra-Uterine Insemination, there are a certain set of instructions that you need to follow. They are as follows-
Have you recently done your Intra-Seminal Insemination? Yes? If so, we have a couple of things you should be aware of if you have doubts about what to follow after the procedure. We're laying it out for you as follows, please feel free to read through the end.
Tip number 1. Lie down
Please make sure that you are laying down and relax for at least 15 minutes immediately after the procedure is done.
Tip number 2.
Following step 1, after 15 minutes, you can go ahead and empty your bladder.
Tip number 3.
Post IUI, bed rest is not at all mandatory. Since pregnancy is not concomitant to your body movements, feel free to resume your normal day to day activities. A pregnancy happens only when the egg and sperm are functional and the uterus is suitable to sustain the pregnancy.
Tip number 4.
Doing the regular household chores do not need to be stopped. It is safe to continue with it post your IUI procedure.
Tip number 5.
If you are a working professional, you need not take a break from your work to take some rest. Staying away from work does not increase your chance of getting pregnant after getting IUI done.
Tip number 6.
Good news for the wanderlust lot of you, or those who visit other cities for the treatment. You can travel safely in any mode, be it a car, a bike, a train or a flight. Travelling is not going to affect your pregnancy.
Tip number 7.
If you are wondering if climbing stairs could bring a risk to your pregnancy, fear not. Going up or down the stairs is completely safe and it is not going the increase your risk of miscarriage or reduce your chance of getting pregnant.
Tip number 8.
If you are a health enthusiast and go on a walk everyday, please do not stop doing so. Keeping healthy is important while being pregnant.
Tip number 9.
There is a popular misconception that sitting on the floor increases your chances of miscarriage. It is not true, sitting on the floor isn’t a problem after you have had an IUI. It has no effect on your pregnancy.
Tip number 10.
This is something that you should not be doing after IUI. Lifting heavy weight items should be strictly avoided. Be it in a gym or just picking up and moving household objects. Seek help if you need to be moving something that can put physical strain on you.
Tip number 11.
Soon after IUI, our advice would be to have intercourse for at least two to three days.
Tip number 12.
When it comes to diet to follow post IUI, like we said before, a healthy body is also important for pregnancy. Therefore, eat a healthy and balanced diet. Try to avoid adding excess spices and salt to your food. Make sure you are eating plenty of fresh fruits and a lot of vegetables. Do not avoid grapes, pineapples or papayas as there is no scientific evidence to avoid them while trying to conceive.
Tip number 13.
If you happen to be a non-vegetarian, please don’t stop consuming meat products while trying to conceive. There is not proof on eating meat products such as chicken, mutton, fish or eggs increases your chance of miscarriage or affect your pregnancy in any way.
Tip number 14.
If you are a smoker or if people around you smoke, it could be detrimental to your chance of getting pregnant. Both active and passive smoking has to be strictly avoided, as the fumes can be harmful. Consuming alcohol has to be avoided as well.
Tip number 15.
We advise you to continue your Folic acid doses as instructed by your doctor until you complete 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Tip number 16.
Please make sure to let your fertility doctor know if you are on any other medications before you are going for an IUI, so that they can advise if they can be continued or not.
