You will never see the room where your embryos grow. So here it is, described plainly, with what we can show you and what you should ask.
Jananam's embryology lab is a clean-room lab inside our Neelankarai hospital, off ECR. Your eggs are collected, fertilised, grown, transferred and frozen under one roof, by one lab team.

Every step below happens in the same building. The lab checks who you are at each one.

Eggs are collected in the theatre next to the lab and passed straight to the embryologist. Your partner's sample is prepared in the same lab that morning.

Eggs and sperm are put together by IVF, or by ICSI where a single sperm is injected into each mature egg. Your doctor explains which, and why, before the day.
Embryos grow in incubators that hold temperature and gas steady and are monitored continuously. Power is 24×7: a UPS carries the load and an automatic changeover generator takes over, with alarms monitored by Jananam's own maintenance staff.
The embryologist checks development at set times and grades each embryo. You are told how many are growing and how they are doing.
Most embryos at Jananam are frozen and transferred in a later cycle. Freezing is by vitrification, a very fast cooling method.
Frozen eggs, sperm and embryos are stored on site in liquid nitrogen tanks that are monitored.
Every dish, tube and straw carries your identity, and it is checked before anything is moved.
Identity is witnessed at each critical step: collection, sperm preparation, fertilisation, transfer and freezing.
Lab techniques such as ICSI, extended culture, freezing and embryo testing are used when they are indicated for you, not by default.
If you choose embryo testing (PGT), a few cells are taken from each embryo and sent to a genetics lab for testing. The cells leave the building. The embryo stays here, frozen, until the result comes back.

WHO RUNS THE LAB
Our lab is led by our chief embryologist, Shajila Titus. The embryology team works with your doctor on every decision the lab makes: how to fertilise, when to transfer, and what to freeze.
