THE JANANAM STANDARD

Six promises we make before we treat anyone.

Everyone has heard of a clinic that kept a couple in a loop. These promises are how we make sure it never happens here.

The Jananam Standard is how every Jananam doctor and centre works: unhurried consultations, an honest plan for when to stop, both partners checked first, add-ons only when they earn it, one specialist throughout, and fertility care only.

Unhurried consultations

Your first consultation is long enough to tell your whole story, and ask every question you came with. The team reads your reports before you arrive, so the time is spent on you, not on catching up.

What It Means for YouBring every report and every question. Nobody will look at the clock.

Dr.Vani mam is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly, answering all my questions with patience and understanding.

What this means on each treatment (3)
  • Donor egg IVFThe decision gets its own conversation. Nobody is asked to agree to donor eggs in the same visit it is first raised.
  • Donor spermTime to ask everything, with counselling offered before any consent form.
  • Egg freezingWe explain what your AMH and scan mean for you, in words, before you decide.
02

We'll tell you when to stop

Before your first cycle we agree, together, what would make us change plan, and when we would honestly recommend stopping. It is the hardest conversation in fertility care, so we have it at the start, when nobody is under pressure. You leave with it in writing: a Stopping Conversation card, signed by your doctor and both of you, before cycle one.

What It Means for YouYou will never be kept in a loop of cycles without a reason.

WhyThe first woman in this family to want a child was told nothing could be done, and that time it was true. Jananam exists so that nobody is told it again unless it is.

A special and sincere thank you to Dr. Vani Mam for her expert guidance, continuous support, and encouragement. After 11 long years of struggling with infertility, my husband and I were emotionally exhausted.

Both partners, first

Male factors are involved in about half of cases. So no plan is made until both of you have been assessed: semen analysis, ovarian reserve and a tubes check belong in the first round.

What It Means for YouOne visit, both of you checked, one plan.

Semen analysis in the first round, every time.

Jananam protocol
What this means on each treatment (10)
  • Donor egg IVFBoth of you are tested and both of you consent, in writing, as the law requires.
  • Donor spermNo one is sent to donor sperm on one semen report. The male partner is assessed fully, including whether sperm can be retrieved surgically.
  • Frozen embryo transferBefore a transfer after a failed one, we look at the whole picture again, not just the lining.
  • ICSI and PICSIHis semen analysis is repeated before any technique is chosen. A low count may be treatable first.
  • IUINo IUI until the semen analysis and a tube check are done. IUI cannot work through two blocked tubes.
  • IVFNo IVF plan is made until both of you are checked. Sometimes the tests show something simpler will do.
  • Ovarian stimulationNo stimulation starts until both of you are checked. It cannot fix blocked tubes or a sperm problem.
  • Ovulation inductionA semen analysis before the first tablet. Tablets can't fix a sperm problem.
  • Sperm freezingIf the sperm is for your IVF, her plan sets how much to freeze and when.
  • TESA, PESA and surgical sperm retrievalHer reserve decides whether sperm is used fresh or frozen, so both of you are assessed before a date is set.

Add-ons must earn it

Extra tests and lab techniques are offered only where the evidence supports them for your situation. When the evidence changes, so do we.

What It Means for YouIf we suggest something extra, we'll tell you the evidence, and what happens if you say no.

We have used ERA in more than 750 patients in the past, but in our experience it did not improve live birth rates sufficiently for us to continue recommending it.

Dr Vani Sundarapandian, Founder and Medical Director
What this means on each treatment (9)
  • Dual stimulation for low egg reserveNo dose pushed higher just to look busy. Egg accumulation is used when it fits your age and reserve.
  • Egg freezingNo extra tests or procedures unless there is a medical reason for them.
  • Embryo freezingFreezing is advised when it helps your cycle, and we explain why. Embryo testing (PGT-A) only where indicated.
  • Frozen embryo transferWe stopped recommending the ERA test after using it in more than 750 patients. Assisted hatching only for day-3 frozen embryos.
  • ICSI and PICSIICSI or PICSI is written into your plan with its reason. We stopped recommending the ERA test after using it in more than 750 patients.
  • IVFICSI, embryo testing and extras only with a reason for you. We stopped recommending ERA after using it in more than 750 patients.
  • Ovarian stimulationLow reserve gets more collections, not just higher doses. More medicine only when it helps you.
  • Ovulation inductionThe lowest dose that grows one good follicle. More tablets do not mean more chance.
  • TESA, PESA and surgical sperm retrievalPICSI and extra lab steps are offered only when there is a reason for them.

Your specialist, start to finish

The doctor who plans your treatment is the one who scans you, collects your eggs and transfers your embryo. The same nurses follow your case throughout.

What It Means for YouThe same faces on day 2 and on transfer day.

The medical team made us feel comfortable and cared for during what can be an emotional journey. We especially appreciated their attention to detail, transparency, and encouragement throughout the treatment.

Alex Jeyaseelan · June 2026
What this means on each treatment (8)
  • Donor spermThe same doctor who plans your treatment does your IUI or transfer.
  • Dual stimulation for low egg reserveLow ovarian reserve is one of Dr Vani's special interests. She plans each stimulation from your response.
  • Embryo freezingThe doctor who plans your freeze plans your transfer. No stranger at warming day.
  • Frozen embryo transferThe doctor who planned your IVF prepares your lining and does your transfer.
  • ICSI and PICSIThe doctor who chooses ICSI for you follows the cycle through to the result.
  • IUIThe same specialist plans your scans, times the IUI and reviews each cycle with you.
  • Ovarian stimulationThe doctor who sets your dose reads your scans and decides the trigger day.
  • Sperm freezingThe doctor who plans the freezing is the doctor who plans its use.

7 questions to ask any fertility clinic in Chennai.

How to choose a fertility clinic in Chennai: ask every clinic the same 7 questions, and ask for the answers in writing. Success rates are hard to check and easy to dress up. How a clinic works is not.

1

Who will I see at every visit, from the first scan to embryo transfer?

The same specialist, start to finish.

2

Will you test both partners before recommending any treatment?

Always: both partners first, with a semen analysis in the first round.

3

Can I have the full price in writing before we start treatment?

Yes: a package price, in writing, before treatment begins.

4

Which add-ons do you recommend for us, and what is the evidence for each one?

Only ones with evidence behind them. We stopped recommending ERA after using it in more than 750 patients.

5

When would you advise us to change plan, pause, or stop IVF?

We agree this before cycle one, in writing, signed by your doctor and both of you.

6

Is the embryology lab on site, or are our eggs and embryos sent elsewhere?

Yes, it is on site: a clean-room lab at Neelankarai. Your embryos never leave the building.

7

Is the centre registered under the ART (Regulation) Act 2021, and at what level?

Yes: ART Level 2 registered. ART/CHE/121/2023

In their words, not ours.

Entire nurse team supported us, they took care of my wife as their own sister, that made her to overcome loneliness, during her 2-month stay in Jananam.

The way she listened to our problems and provided appropriate treatment, we felt very comfortable with her consultation.

Before you choose.

How do I choose a fertility clinic in Chennai?

Choose on how a clinic works, not on the rate it advertises: ask who you will see at every visit, whether both partners are tested first, and whether the price is in writing before you start. Ask the same 7 questions at every clinic you visit and compare the written answers. Ours are in the Jananam Standard on this page.

Does Jananam publish success rates?

No, Jananam does not publish a clinic-wide IVF, IUI or TESA success rate, because that number depends more on which patients a clinic accepts than on the care. Instead, at your first consultation Dr Vani's team works out your own chances from age, diagnosis, ovarian reserve and the semen analysis, and tells you plainly, including when treatment is unlikely to help, as the ART (Regulation) Act 2021 expects. If any clinic quotes a success rate in Chennai, ask whether it counts live births or pregnancies, per cycle or per patient, and which ages it covers.

Is Jananam expensive?

We quote a package price in writing before you start, and every test or treatment we suggest has a medical reason. Patients often mention there were no hidden charges.

Does Jananam offer EMI for IVF?

Yes, EMI options are available. Our financial counsellor explains them before you commit, so you know the monthly cost before treatment starts.

Is Jananam in Neelankarai far for me?

Jananam's main hospital is in Neelankarai, just off East Coast Road (ECR). If you live along OMR, consultations and scans can happen at Jananam Thiruporur. Egg collection, embryo transfer and all lab work happen at Neelankarai.

We live overseas. Can Jananam help?

Yes: most couples start with a video consultation, then do tests at home where possible. You travel to Chennai only for the part that needs you here.

IVF failed for us elsewhere. Is it worth trying again?

It can be, and a second opinion is how you find out: it looks at what happened, not just what's next. Sometimes the honest answer is a different plan, or stopping. The most common mistake we see is waiting too long to ask.

WHY THIS STANDARD EXISTS

Every promise here started with one woman.

Dr Vani's Periamma, Jayalakshmi, could not have a child when treatment barely existed, and she carried that for the rest of her life. The unhurried consultations, the prices quoted upfront and the stopping conversation are what Dr Vani wishes someone could have given her.

It exists for the one thing she wanted and never had.
