Before you travel.
Do I need a medical visa for IVF in India?
Most international patients do: the patient travels on an Indian e-Medical visa, and up to two companions, such as your husband, on e-Medical Attendant visas. Both allow multiple entries, need a letter from us on hospital letterhead, and are applied for at indianvisaonline.gov.in 4 to 120 days before you arrive. Visa rules can change, so check the official site before you book; Bangladeshi nationals may need to apply through IVAC.
How long do I need to stay in Chennai for IVF?
For an IVF cycle with egg collection, plan to be available in Chennai for about two to three weeks. A frozen embryo transfer needs a shorter second visit. Your exact dates come with your written plan, before you book flights.
Can my husband come for just a few days?
Often, yes. His sample can be collected and frozen on one short visit, so he does not have to stay for the whole cycle. Dr Vani will tell you on the video call whether that works for your plan.
Can I do tests in Sri Lanka before coming?
Yes. Semen analysis, hormone blood tests, scans and a tubes check (HSG) can usually be done at a lab near you. Send the full reports to Dr Vani before your video consultation, so you arrive in Chennai with a plan.
Can tests be done in my home country?
Yes, most blood tests, scans and semen analysis can be done where you live. Recent reports from a recognised lab are generally accepted, so send them before the video consultation. We send you a list of exactly what is needed.
What documents do we need to bring?
You need identity and marriage documents as required under Indian regulation, plus your medical records. We confirm the exact list with you before you travel, so nothing is missing on the day.
Can embryos be shipped to my country?
Not always. Moving embryos across borders is regulated in both India and your home country, and it is not always permitted. Decide this with us before treatment starts, not after.
Which languages do you speak?
Our team speaks English, Tamil and Hindi. If another language is easier for you, we arrange translation help.
Can I pay in my own currency?
How and when you pay is agreed with you in writing before you travel.
Is IVF in India cheaper than at home?
We won't make that comparison for you, but we make it easy to do yourself. You get a written package price before you travel, so you can set it against what you would pay at home, including your flights and stay.
What happens after we go home?
Follow-up is by video with the same team. You take the pregnancy test near you and send the result on WhatsApp, and Dr Vani's team tells you what comes next.
